The effect of parent-administered infant massage on the developmental outcomes of premature infants

Introduction: Prematurely born infants often have developmental delays in multiple areas when compared to at term.  Neurodevelopmental supportive care techniques such as Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) or infant massage the potential affect infant’s outcome.  Evidence supports benefits of parent-administered terms premature infants’ growth, weight gain and length hospitalisation; however, effect on other aspects development has not yet been established. Method: A randomised controlled trial was used investigate milestones who received massage.  The Peabody Developmental Motor Scales Second Edition (PDMS-2) test assess birth again four six months (actual age) along with Bayley Infant Toddler Development Third (BSID-III). Results: Positive clinical sizes were shown massaged group Cognitive, Reflexes Visual-Motor Integration subtests.  There also a strong correlation between frequency social-emotional infants.  Facilitators barriers, performing programme, Conclusion: This study use for older than 32 weeks gestation assist attainment their well parent-infant bonding process.
